A nutritional therapist offering holistic health and wellness coaching to busy professionals
In 2017, I reached two significant milestones: turning 50 and calling time on a 20-year career in the corporate world of accounting and finance.
Having worked in finance for so long – operating in a number of executive-level roles in Oxford – I became practically cemented in it. Prior to this, I was a stay-at-home mum and, after my divorce, I became a single parent to my two-year-old daughter. Pursuing a career with a stable salary enabled me to be financially independent and support us both.
As my daughter grew up (she’s now a Law graduate), my career was no longer fulfilling me and I knew it was time for a change.
In 2014, I took a leap of faith and moved from Oxford (my home of 26 years) back to Leicester to be nearer family. Things started to shift and it turned out to be the beginning of a transitional period – culminating in me turning 50 and, in 2018, finally saying goodbye to a career that was drowning me.
I took some time off to regroup, as well as to try to figure out the next step; then, in 2018, I had a heart to heart with my brother, who is a hugely successful businessman. He urged me to pursue my passion, which is health and wellness, and I finally did it – setting up my own health coaching business after undertaking a fast-tracked eight-week personal training course which became a stepping stone.
Feeling renewed both in body and soul gave me the courage to face my fears and, after attending an open day at the London College of Naturopathic Medicine, I signed up to their three-year diploma in Naturopathic Medicine. I absolutely love studying, but it’s exhausting sitting exams, so I stopped offering personal training services to focus purely on nutritional therapy.
I am finally following my dream and I’m already more than halfway to becoming a certified nutritional therapist. Feeling physically fitter than ever, my brother was also inspired and became one of my first clients. I’ve continued to help him – and many others – to transform their health.
Don’t let fear hold you back and remember that you are never too old to reinvent yourself!
