Lucy Allen, Independent Travel Consultant
Dedicated to getting people to where they need to be and handling all the logistics
I’ve travelled since the age of two and grew up all over the world – spending parts of my childhood in amazing places like Sydney and California.
After graduating from the University of Manchester with a degree in Spanish, I moved out there for a couple of years – basing myself in Santiago and then Madrid – and then returned to the UK with my heart set on working within the travel industry.
I entered the corporate world and inhabited it for 14 years – specialising in media and marketing for a number of leading travel companies. In 2014 however, circumstances led to a change of direction which meant taking some time away from the industry I so enjoyed.
Working a variety of different jobs over the next few years, I missed the old days. Intent on becoming my own boss, I researched franchise options and was really impressed by Not Just Travel. I wanted the ongoing support of a parent company that was passionate, well-established and reputable, and I knew I’d found what I’d been looking for during my week-long induction.
More than two years in, I couldn’t be happier. Working from home and supported remotely, it’s entirely my responsibility to build my business, raise my profile and generate leads – a challenge I’m relishing because it encourages me to step out of my comfort zone and thrive.
My priority is to save people time, reduce stress and provide peace of mind. A holiday is too valuable to take risks, so I spend time getting to know my clients and then handle everything else – whether it’s planning an idyllic couples retreat or an all-action family fun trip.
I fell pregnant at the same time I got involved with Not Just Travel, so the first year or so – taking the plunge into self-employment and becoming a first-time mum – had its challenges but overall, it’s been a wonderful experience. Duncan is 15 months old now and a real character! My dream is to take him to the many beautiful places the world has to offer because I know from my own childhood that it builds character. Experiencing new cultures and meeting new people is a fabulous and enriching part of life.
